30WHEN IS BULLYING A CRIME? Bullying often meets the criteria of a crime. Although it is generally good to investigate bullying cases through educational means, students need to understand that bullying is a serious matter that can be classified as a criminal act.The KiVa discussions at school are not always sufficient to stop bullying when it is especially severe. In some cases, such as those involving physical violence, it is appropriate to take legal action. Even if, according to the Criminal Code in most countries, the criminal liability of a young person begins at the age of 15, even younger people are liable for the damages they have caused. If a minor has intentionally caused damage (e.g., damaged someone else%u2019s property), they can be held liable to pay compensation.
